Meet Our Founder

The Georgetown Biomedical University was foubnded by Dr. Raphael D. Hazel, Ph.D., after decades of teaching and research in clinical, preclinical and basic science in the areas of Brain, Cancer and Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Hazel completed his doctoral training in Physiology and Biophysics with specialization in NMR spectroscopy at the Stony Brook University, School of Medicine, and later completed postdoctoral research fellowhips in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in the Radiology and Neurosurgery departments at Stony Brook University Hospital, the Medical Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the Cardiac Research and Education Unit at St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, NY. Dr. Hazel later returned to Guyana to establish the Medical Imaging program at the University of Guyana where he taught undergraduate courses in MRI, CT, Ultrasound and X-Ray Radiography.

  • Who we Are

We are the alternative to a traditional liberal arts university education. We specialize in biomedical education and training of professionals for the Medical Profession. Our programs are sharply focused on the requirements for today's bio-techniology driven medical professions such as Radiography Technologists, Medical Physicists and Medical Imaging Scientists. Our professionals receive hands on interaction with medical devices and medical technology so that they are experts in the medical imaging modality of their choice. Our programs are flexible and responsive to the realities and needs of the medical profession.

    Who should complete our programs

If you're interested in quiclkly joining the profession of diagnostic medical imaging as a Radiography Technologist, Medical Physicist or MRI physicist by obtaining the relevant state licenses, or the American Board of Mediacl Physics, Canadian Board of Medical Physics or the British Health Physics licenses, then these programs are for you.

If you are interested in a career in the pharmaceutical industry or in medical research then these programs are also for you.

If you would like to be a physician or a nurse or any the of the many clinical practice professionals, of if you are seeking continuing medical education, then these programs are also for you.

    What Programs we Offer

We offer Courses in Medical Physics, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and X-Ray Radiography that prepare you to take the relevent licencing examinations. We also offer One year, 2 year and 3 year Certificate, Associates Degree and Bachelors degree programs as well as short courses and diplomas for continuing medical education.
